Join Afromanding at Nottingham’s No.1 world music venue, The Maze, for an evening of uplifting West African music, with a hint of European groove! Afromanding is a music that was made very popular in the good old days of Gambian music by bands and artists like Lalo kebba drammeh, Ifang Bondi and Sungulou Sisokho. Now, great artists like Jaliba kuyateh and other bands are keeping it alive, and are consistently keeping a steady flow of new material into the mainstream.

During our evening you’ll be treated to a thirty minute performance of traditional West African percussion; exploring the iconic West African djembe, the tama (talking drum) and the sabar drums; the distinctive drum heard in Mbalax music of Senegal.

After this, enjoy Afromanding playing tracks from their forthcoming album, due to be released in Autumn 2019. You’ll hear many traditional instruments from West Africa, played by musicians from The Gambia, Senegal, Italy and the UK.

A rare concert in Nottingham, not to be missed!
