This May we celebrate the fact that The Maze, officially Nottingham’s best loved underground music venue as voted by musicians in Leftlion magazine, has been a live music venue for 15 years and after almost being turned into student flats 8 years ago, it was salvaged and developed into The Maze as you know it today!
In the only way befitting of such a momentous event we will be bringing you 15 whole days of fantastic Maze-style entertainment, working with some of our favourite and most diverse nights and promoters. PLUS we will be bringing you some great drinks offers every night including £2.50 house doubles, to give something back to the people who make The Maze what it is… that’s YOU innit!
On Saturday 5th May we’re kicking off with Nottiongham’s best live music promoters I’m Not From London, who have teamed up with Nottingham’s best music and culture magazine Leftlion to bring you a night of hip hop, ska, live DnB and general danceyness with 25 Past The Skank, Seas of Mirth, The Austin Francis Connection and Just James. Guaranteed to be a packed one so get down early!
Sunday 6th May sees our friends at Noise Critical bring you an all-day fest of rock n roll, sleaze, glam and general balls-out ROCK with The Erotics, Wrathchild, New Generation Superstars and loads more!
Monday 7th May the awesome Acousticated Noise present the equally-as-awesome influential alt-folk singer Chris T-T.
Tuesday 8th May we move into something a little different, with Nottingham’s Reggae Society’s regular Bass Culture night. Bringing together the finest local selectors that Nottingham has to offer, expect to hear a variety of reggae styles with a guarantee of good vibes and good bass heavy sounds. The soundwaves will be brought to you by Pork Chopper Sounds this time around and they’ve been putting a lot of effort into creating their rig so expect some seriously big things.
Wednesday 9th May sees things chilling out a little with the ace Daniel Dobbs hosting his EP launch, Don’t Wear The Beast’s Jeans.
Thursday 10th May sees DIY Poets host their regular night of beat poetry and live music – expect stripped down blues and acoustic sounds.
Friday 11th May gets a bit louder with two of our favourite clubnights joining forces to bring you an EPIC night of jungle, reggae, roots and more – Monkey Nuts vs Back To Basics!
Saturday 12th May is our official birthday knees-up with our friends at Audacious Face teaming up with The Maze to bring you Offbeat Festival, an all-day mash-up of the best in local Nottingham talent across 2 stages. Check out the line-up here.
Sunday 13th May is back to a seriously chilled-out vibe with Nottingham’s best folk promoters Folkus, featuring Jezz Hall, Bella Gaffney and Marc Block & The Breezes.
Monday 14th May is another edition of our famous Notts In A Nutshell nights, proud to have been showcasing new and not so new Nottingham talent for years now.
Tuesday 15th May is a very special birthday edition of our famous pub quiz nights, hosted by our very own Gaz and full of bizarre and entertaining jollies, plus great prizes for the winners.
Wednesday 16th May sees one of Nottingham’s most missed and best-loved bands Six By Seven playing their last ever show, called The Death of Six by Seven. History in the making there – don’t miss out.
Thursday 17th May is one of our favourite metal and rock promoters Chaos Promotions bringing you a dose of the heavier end of the spectrum.
Friday 18th May is a big, big, BIG show from the wonderful BROUHAHA team, featuring the infamous ROYAL GALA! This one’s sure to sell out so get in early.
Finally we finish off with a bang with BITCHSLAP FEST, featuring a whole day of female fronted punk, rock and metal co-headlined by BLEECH and the ever-awesome THE SMEARS.
